Koi are associated with character, perserverence,accomplishment and courage. They also symbolize good fortune, success and longevity. I did this neurographic drawing while thinking about my eldest sister who recently passed just before her 90th birthday leaving five sons, eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She had a wonderful long life and though she will be missed, the world will not doubt she was here. The symbolism of koi definitely works well to state how she lived her life. As I tried to see something within the tangle and neurographic drawing,the head of a koi appeared and adding color digitally to my drawing I came up with Feeling Koi. The drawing was done with a navy sharpie pen on drawing paper, and the colors are all digital. It was magical finding an image in a drawing that was done purely in a contemplative manner without a specific intention to create anything recognizable. ( created using techniques developed by Pavel Piskarev 2014)
There is no AI art or photography on my site. The beauty of nature inspires my work. I especially enjoy floral photography, still life, and landscapes as well as working with a variety of subjects in my fine art, which includes colored pencil, watercolor and acrylic paintings. Most recently I have added several digital paintings combining hand paintings with digital enhancements or creating original photography inspired digital paintings from my own photography in addition to my exclusively hand painted or drawn works. Animals, birds, children, still life, and flowers are favorite subjects. I especially love capturing the personality of the animals that I paint through the expressions in their eyes.
