Description
"When snow falls nature listens." ~ Antoinette van Kleef
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December
A magical thing
And sweet to remember
We are nearer to spring
Than we were in September
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December. ~ Olive Herford, I heard a Bird Sing
Mourning doves find some winter magic in the mistletoe.
Mistletoe, a parasitic plant, remains green in winter with white berries and can be found hanging in large clumps or balls on the branches of trees including the oak. In Norse mythology, it was thought to possess mystical powers to bring good luck to a household, and was also used as a sign of love and friendship, leading to the Holiday custom of kissing under the mistletoe.
