Visiting the woods, blanketed in silence after a morning snow, a lady on horseback pauses to enjoy the moment and reflect upon the previous year. No where better to make a New Year's Resolution than on the back of a beautiful horse. I always think of the wonderful poem by Robert Frost at this time of year, Stopping By a Woods On a Snowy Evening, so this is my rendering of what the moment must have been like long ago before cars and cell phones. Enjoy and Happy New Year!

I based this drawing on a photo I have of a lady dressed in formal foxhunting attire in Virginia; the horse she rode was a black thoroughbred, but I liked the flowing mane of the Friesian for this work, and so placed her on one.

There is no AI art or photography on my site. The beauty of nature inspires my work. I especially enjoy floral photography, still life, and landscapes as well as working with a variety of subjects in my fine art, which includes colored pencil, watercolor and acrylic paintings. Most recently I have added several digital paintings combining hand paintings with digital enhancements or creating original photography inspired digital paintings from my own photography in addition to my exclusively hand painted or drawn works.
