Description
The Eastern Goldfinch, or North American Goldfinch is quite colorful during mating season. I captured all of these finches on my pink dogwood tree last April. What a sight! In winter they are a subdued gray brown, almost passing for sparrows. I associate them with spring as they seem to appear out of nowhere when the dogwood begins to flower. If you see one goldfinch, you will usually see several. They especially love thistle seed and a feeder of thistle seeds will guarantee some great bird watching. I needed to do a spring painting, even though it has not been very spring like here in Pa. It was minus one degree here this morning, snowed about 12 inches on Thursday, and icicles are hanging from my gutters. Brrr! But at least it is spring on my easel. :)

Spring on your easel brings Spring to my heart! I, too, am in PA and this Winter cold was felt to the bone - but your beautiful painting takes those minus degrees and vanishes them forever - a definite fav for my collection.
