"If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere." ~ Van Gogh
"Do small things with great love." ~ Mother Teresa
This is a digitally enhanced version of my colored pencil drawing entitled,Guardian of the Magnolia. It is brighter and more pastel in color for those who like just a whisper of color. I love combining hand created art with digital effects as both add beauty to a work. The hummingbird is based on a capture graciously given as reference by Cindy Treger. http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/cimdy-treger.html
I have taken artistic license to change the color and appearance of the hummingbird but found this pose so amazing. It is actually a defensive and territorial pose. Hummingbirds are quite aggressive and territorial. Perhaps those long beaks are swords as well as a means to feed. They are small but mighty. The magnolia is a grandiflora and was captured by myself in Washington, DC. They are my favorite type of magnolia but unfortunately seldom survive in our Pennsylvania winters.
