Description
Full of lost stories of rescued souls,
Now gray, shuttered and abandoned,
Surrounded by sentinels of sea oats. ~ Angela Davies
I captured this abandoned coast guard station at Oregon Inlet in North Carolina many years ago. Sea oats surrounded it and even shuttered and derelict it held a mysterious beauty for me, the stories it must have to tell. I enhanced with some digital watercolor effects.
This is the Pea Island Life Saving Station located near Oregon Inlet in North Carolina. It was built in 1889 and abandoned in 1988 for a newer station built two miles away.
