Description
When her owner, Ashley, placed a crown of daisies on her head and a necklace of daisies around her neck, Daisy wasn't sure what to think. Was she supposed to eat them, or wear them. Ashley kissed her nose and sat her down on the lawn to hop around as usual. But Daisy spotted something circling in the sky overhead. It was big and it seemed to be watching her. She decided the safest thing to do was hide in the hedge where it was dark and quiet. Ashley called her and called her, and cried for her mom to help, but Daisy would not come out. Daisy became more afraid at first, but then she liked it under the hedgerow. Everything was lush and green, and very good to eat. She decided to stay a little longer and something told her that this was the home she had wanted for so long. It was much more interesting than her cage. This might do for quite a while.
This little story is based upon an actual pet rabbit that I knew of which decided to escape when out on the lawn for a little free time and became wild. She survived for quite a while and could be seen munching clover along the lane near where she escaped, but she refused to come back and could not be caught. We often wondered if she found other rabbits, or survived. Would wild rabbits have accepted her? A tame rabbit would probably not have the skills to survive predators for long, but she did for several months, then disappeared. We all wondered what became of Daisy?
This is a watercolor I did a few years ago and I have added some digital enhancements.

What. A beautiful story, Angela! Daisy looks quite regal in her Freedom den! Sometimes, it would appear life isn’t as much about quantity as quality. What a beautiful metaphor and story to illustrate that.
