The inspiration for this drawing came from a photo of my own mare braided for a show and another photo of a foal born at our farm when my mare was about 23 and retired from showing. When the foal was born she became so excited and watched it lovingly; it was easy to see that she wanted it for her own. I bought my mare at age sixteen and she had been a show horse and event horse all her life. We even continued to show at English Pleasure from the time she was sixteen until she was twenty. She was talented, athletic and kind and always came home with many ribbons. When she fell in love with this foal I felt a bit sad for her as she had never had the opportunity to have a foal of her own, and I realized she gave all that up for her career with humans. By the time she was retired at twenty she was a bit too old to take the risk of having offspring and I often thought if I had gotten her earlier in life perhaps she could have been a mom at some point....if only.....
There is no AI art or photography on my site. The beauty of nature inspires my work. I especially enjoy floral photography, still life, and landscapes as well as working with a variety of subjects in my fine art, which includes colored pencil, watercolor and acrylic paintings. Most recently I have added several digital paintings combining hand paintings with digital enhancements or creating original photography inspired digital paintings from my own photography in addition to my exclusively hand painted or drawn works. Animals, birds, children, still life, and flowers are favorite subjects. I especially love capturing the personality of the animals that I paint through the expressions in their eyes.
