The night sky has many eyes as a luna moth searches out the moon in this photography inspired photopainting.
The Luna Moth is found near deciduous forests in North America. It is also known as a giant silk moth. The Luna has four stages, egg,larva,pupa, and adult. The image shown is the adult moth and sadly will only live a few days and will never eat. It's sole purpose at this stage is to mate and reproduce. It generally mates late at night before midnight. The males can be differentiated from the females by their large feathery antennae. So sad that when they are most beautiful their life is nearly at it's end. They are a large showy moth approximately 3-4.5 inches across the wingspan. It is always a thrill to see one and I have only seen them a few times in my life. An item of interest, can you see the face on the body of the moth in the lower half where the two large spots look just like eyes?
There is no AI art or photography on my site. The beauty of nature inspires my work. I especially enjoy floral photography, still life, and landscapes as well as working with a variety of subjects in my fine art, which includes colored pencil, watercolor and acrylic paintings.
