Description
I captured this old tree a few years ago on the Gettysburg Battlefield. It was a lone tree in a large pasture used for grazing cattle and I surmised that the reason it was there was that it had grown up between some very large boulders that had protected it and allowed it to become so large when many others were either mowed down or eaten and trampled by cattle.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
Angela Davies replied:
Thanks for the honor of a feature Calvin. At present I cannot post images in featured discussions due to browser difficulties in my computer.
