Description
I have always been touched by the story of the Little Matchstick Girl written by Hans Christian Anderson. She is such a symbol of the eternal hope that all of us can show in adversity.
"She drew another match against the wall: it was again light, and in the lustre there stood her grandmother, bright and radiant, with an expression of love.
Stiff and stark sat the child there with her matches, of which one bundle had been burnt. " she wanted to warm herself," people said. No one had the slightest suspicion of what beautiful things she had seen; no one even dreamed of the splendor in which, with her grandmother she had entered on the joys of a New Year." ~ excerpt from The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Anderson

so very moving and a lovely story. C.H. Anderson was my favorite when I was a child being raised in Germany. Your painting is simply lovely, Angela.

Angela, That was one of my favorite childhood “stories” as a child. You have truly done justice to the theme with your rendering and backstory. Beautiful.
