Description
This type of barn is so rare in the United States that The National Trust for Historic Preservation is protecting most of them. It is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the orchard country of Biglerville, Pa. USA, famous for apples and other tree fruits, as well as local wineries. The Round Barn also called a "barrel barn" was built in 1914 by the Noah Sheeley family. The circumference of the barn is 282' and the diameter is 87'.
Apples and produce, honey, baked goods, etc. and wonderful pumpkins and mums are available for sale in autumn. The barn has been used for wedding receptions and there is ample room upstairs for dancing. The Round Barn is also a popular tourist destination for people visiting the Gettysburg Battlefield nearby. Seasonal produce is available during the summer months. The Hauser Winery overlooks this lovely farm and orchard and provides a great spot to enjoy the beauty of rural Pennsylvania.

Beautiful capture. When we were traveling country roads, I'm thinking we saw this and I think I have a picture buried away somewhere. What a grand barn it was. L

Super capture, Angie. There is a similar round barn in southern Michigan near a vineyard made into a museum where they hold festivals. It's so cool! FL
