Description
This is a high key capture of dicentra cucullaria, or Dutchman's Breeches, captured in a rocky woodland area near my home. It has a beautiful fern like leaf and grows in early spring. The Iroquois Native Americans used this plant to create some of their medicines. In the wild the seeds are spread by ants. They love the edible parts of the seed and carry to their underground homes, which then allows the plants to grow and spread over a wide area in the preferred shady and rocky woodland forests. High key effects and filters added to the image to lighten it.

Wow, these are lovely blooms and your capture is so beautifully presented! Interesting info as well, not sure I have ever seen these beauties!

Such a fun name for these flowers. I'd never heard it before. Beautiful shot Angela, and lovely framing!

Thanks so much Meg, I agree had to look them up as I had never even seen them before. The flowers do look like breeches. :)
