Description
"Home is a place you grow up wanting to leave, and grow old wanting to get back to." ~ John Ed Pearce
This is a photography based painting of one of the quaint Civil War era homes on the Gettysburg Battlefield and is the Hummelbaugh House. I have added some hollyhocks and a blue bucket sitting near the cistern for a homey feeling. This is like many of the older homes still found in rural Pennsylvania, though not many have working cisterns in the back yard. When I was growing up quite a few farms still had working cisterns in the back yard and the water you pumped yourself, usually into a big metal mug or tin cup, was always so cold and delicious, no chlorine taste in that water.

Angela, I love this beautiful creation of yours! It's such a dreamy and peaceful place! It reminds me of my home in the country when I was young! Excellent! LF
Angela Davies replied:
Thanks Kathy, it reminds me of the little white house I grew up in until age sixteen when we moved away.
