Description
As I left Hammonds Rocks in Pa on a beautiful October afternoon, I looked back over my shoulder and in the shadows and backlit by sunlight, I spotted what looked like huge rocks piled into a pyramid on the north side of the Hammonds Rocks formation. So intriguing just had to include this in my Hammonds Rocks series. This outcropping is very ancient and estimated to be 530-600 million years old. It is part of the Weverton formation and is only accessible by a road filled with potholes and boulders as well as a wet area across the road so a jeep or other high carriage vehicle is needed to get up there safely and even so it is a slow drive. But the view is worth the trip.

Angela Davies replied:
Thanks Nancy, last time I was there was about fourteen years ago, so doubt I make it back. The road has deteriorated so much if not fixed soon will not be drivable. And the hike from the bottom would be exhausting.
