Description
There when I most needed you,
The gatekeepers of my happiness,
My dogs~ Angela Davies
It has been a long time since the passing of my last dear friend, doing this painting reminded me of what I missed about her, it is time to look for another "forever friend."
These are my niece's Canadian Spaniels, surveying the field ahead, eager for their morning walk, but awaiting the command to go with obedience. This breed is used primarily for hunting game birds, however my niece just loves them as pets. They are brother and sister from the same litter. This is a pastel and watercolor mixed media. Slight touches of digital color and photographed with a filter for softness.

Thanks Laurel, though this time around I hope to get a small, perhaps even tiny dog. I no longer have the strength to hold onto one this size. :)

Angela, I am so sorry for the passing of your beauties…you honored her so beautifully and yes, there are few unconditional moments in life other than as seen in the eyes and rewarding nuzzles of one’s dog. I don’t know what I/we would do without Leo..,he keeps us vigilant to the moment, to the play, the rest, the meditating…yes he meditates with us…reminds us of we are off schedule too. I am sending positive vibes to align with your search…thanks for sharing this in the BUZzz.
Angela Davies replied:
Thanks so much Laurel, actually these dogs are my niece's and still very much alive and young. I wrote the poem to honor the passing of my own canine friend and the love we had for her.

Wonderful image, love hunting breeds!
Angela Davies replied:
Thanks Steve! My father bred English Short Haired Pointers and I often hunted quail and pheasant with him as a child. Was so exciting to watch them Point.

This gives me chills and breaks my heart. I still cannot get over the loss of my childhood dog, and the one after. A stunning and beautiful portrait and tribute. They are with us forever dear Angie, my heart understands and is with you. Love your amazing verse.
