Description
The best sunsets are the ones we share with others. My Schnauzer, Sidney, watches two ducks at sunset on our pond many years ago. He was a big outdoor dog in a little house dog's body, such a brave soul who loved the outdoors and helped me enjoy it more too. He was a family member for fifteen years, coming into our lives when my youngest son begged for a puppy and passing on when that same little boy graduated high school. Sidney was very confident and never knew how small he was, demonstrated by once chasing two Doberman's up the hill when they ventured into our yard. If they had tails, they would have been tucked between their legs. :) We all still miss him. This is a vintage photo which has been digitally painted.

I love this, Anita - and the story of Sydney! It seems to be a common trait of little dogs to attack large ones who are just minding their business :)
Angela Davies replied:
Thanks glad you enjoyed the story. In this case the Doberman's were not minding their business as they got loose and came down to investigate our yard as if it was their own, until Sidney spotted them at least. As they were not friendly dogs and a bit aggressive, I was quite proud of him for chasing them home. :) Even their owner was ok with it because he did not want to have to chase them and then didn't have to do so. :) A win, win for all! :)

Bless his little K9 heart! He is so cute! Territorial consciousness is apparently a common trait among Schnauzers. After all, if they have never seen a reflection of themselves along with that of a larger dog, how would they know? Sidney lived for the canine equivalent of our threescore years and ten and has now gone to a happier place, where he will eagerly be awaiting your arrival. Hopefully not any time soon, so stay safe!
